Jadau is not a type of jewellery or stone, instead a technique which holds its roots in the royal era of fore. Our ethnic wardrobe is incomplete without a Jadau piece which is considered a prized possession due to the microscopic workmanship that goes into making this handcrafted jewelry.

It was introduced to India by the Mughals, after which the workmanship was mastered by the artisans of Rajasthan and Gujarat. It requires to be handled by skilled workers as the traditional form of jewelry is made without any technology interference which increases the time to perfect each piece hence making it a valuable possession.

The word “Jad” literally translates to being embedded. This technique is the art of setting 24 karat gold around stones, without using any adhesive, and the pieces that are formed are categorized under Jadau jewelry.

Today’s bride, however modern, prefers this beautifully handcrafted piece which is often lovingly passed down through generations as an heirloom. It compliments not only a traditional lehenga but even a contemporary evening gown. You can even layer it up with a choker and a longer necklace, and compliment it with jadau rings, kadas and maang tika. A definite must have for any wedding function.
